The news release:
Pioneer is to become the channel sponsor of Sky Arts, the television channel dedicated to the arts and broadcast exclusively on digital satellite. The deal, which is the first ever channel sponsorship for Sky Arts, will run until 2008 and will include sponsorship of programming content across TV and online.

Sky Arts offers viewers a wide variety of arts performances and documentaries, covering drama, rock, classical music, dance, opera, art, design, jazz and literature. With great performers showcased alongside lesser-known artists from across the arts spectrum, Sky Arts covers diverse subjects ranging from Bizet to Brit Art, Monet to Margot Fonteyn, The Nutcracker to Norman Foster and Surrealism to Salsa.

Pioneer will receive 15” sponsorship credits before and after all sponsored programmes, both on the linear channel and though Sky’s on-demand service, Sky Anytime. On-demand programming on both TV and online will carry Pioneer branding. The channel website, www.skyarts.co.uk, will also feature branding throughout, including a dedicated Pioneer editorial page and creative featuring the Pioneer ‘Kuro’ range.

Heidi Johnson-Cash, General Manager for Marketing, Pioneer comments: “We are delighted to have secured this highly targeted cross-platform deal with Sky Arts which co-incides with the launch of Pioneer’s KURO flat screen televisions. As part of this strategy, Pioneer introduces a new brand platform “seeing and hearing like never before” designed to connect to consumer’s passion for home entertainment. This genre-led sponsorship will offer targeted brand exposure to core a demographic audience for Pioneer. Sky Arts really does offer an opportunity like no other and we’ll look to drive some strong brand messages from that platform.”

Dominic de Terville, Sponsorship Controller, Sky Media, adds: “With branding on-air online and on Sky’s on-demand platforms, Sky Anytime, this is an integrated sponsorship which will help Pioneer reach a loyal and clearly identifiable audience. The Pioneer KURO brand is a great fit with Sky Arts and we look forward to working together over the coming months.”
